Dow AgroSciences Statement Concerning US EPA’s Announcement of Proposed Future Chlorpyrifos Tolerance (MRL) Changes
On October 30, 2015, U.S. EPA announced that they were partially granting an NGO petition and would soon open a public comment period on a proposed withdrawal of all U.S. food tolerances (MRLs) for the insecticide chlorpyrifos-ethyl. As reported in a later news story, EPA received a large number of comments and new information from the USDA, major research and extension universities, and industry groups expressing concern with EPA’s proposal and asking the Agency to further refine its assessment while also considering major benefits offered by chlorpyrifos for U.S. and global agriculture.
